After global financial and economic hits and impacted to Indonesia auto market, and the declining value the Indonesian Rupiah against the US Dollars and Japanese Yen, has forced car manufacturers to increase their prices. The sole distributor of Chevrolet, PT GM AutoWorld Indonesia (GMAI) also offers the Indonesian market with affordable sedan, Chevrolet Kalos with price range from Rp. 157.9 Million up to Rp. 177.9 Million.

In Indonesia auto market segmentation, New Saga, Gen2 Persona, Avega, and Kalos is in Low/Mini Sedan compete to Vios, City, and Baleno. Below is sales volume of Mini Sedan in January up to May 2009 period:

The German’s automotive sensibility shines through in the A-4 with durable engine as well as interiors. It has first-class leather inside with a CD player and air-conditioning. It also features an anti-brake system, lots of airbags and an ISO FIX child seat clamps. Just for sheer looks, the Audi A-4 can beat any sedan model in the market.

* Jaguar X-typeWho would have thought that Jaguar will produce a model sedan? They are not only about tiny roadsters anymore with the Jaguar X-type. This series have four choices of engines: a 2.2 liter, 2.5 liter, 3 liter V6 and a diesel. It still carries its signature leather and wood combination when it comes to the interiors and the same powerful performance in terms of torque.

It’s also very roomy and has climate and cruise control feature as well as a CD player, anti-lock brakes and airbags. Automakers look forward to showcasing the best in the luxury vehicle segment. Hence, every year, they bare their most precious luxurious masterpieces to compete with other car makers. Earlier, ForbesAutos.com set forth the most extreme luxury sedans on the road. These sedans brag about their outrageous power and exquisitely laid lavishness.

Five years ago, the trend includes luxury sedans that produce 400 horsepower. Now, automakers like Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are introducing luxury sedans that have engine units which can produce as much as 600 units of horsepower.

“These are Ferraris with four doors and a trunk,” said a former automotive financial analyst, Joseph Phillippi. “The appeal is the exclusivity they offer, the ‘I’m rich enough to afford one’ statement the car makes, albeit quietly. Clearly these cars are putting more horsepower to the ground than one would ever think was normal for a luxury sedan.” These state-of-the-art and costly super sedans are inspired by popular models that bear sophisticated engine, suspension and transmission technology.

Gone are the days when so-so amenities, typical accessories, Geo cold air intake, rotors, brakes and other auto parts and car systems could storm around the industry. The trend now is probing the needs and demands of consumers and then applying expertise to pave way for a desirable car. Style, performance and price are now delivered with the customers first in mind. “I’m sure there are buyers who are clueless, simply spending money because they have a lot of it,” Phillippi said. “But most of the people who buy these know all about the car — maybe even know how to drive it well.”

Most luxurious luxury sedans keep away from the looks of some gaudy sports cars with large wings, distasteful scoops and noisy exhaust systems. The supercharged V12 badge, lowered stance, flashier wheels and discreet tires make a well accented difference.

“You’re not looking to impress Joe Six-Pack,” said automotive publicist and consultant Martyn Schorr. “It’s the aficionados who are impressed — and valets. Valets are used to seeing luxury cars, but they’re impressed when they see a Mercedes AMG or BMW M logo.” The difference between ordinary and superlative sedans is often subtle that an average driver could not easily distinguish. A typical A4 is almost similar to the hot-rod RS 4; the equally-captivating Jaguar XJ8 could not be easily distinguished from the ferocious XJR. “The sedans are stealthy, so you can be a performance loony and not look bad in your neighborhood,” Phillippi said.

Schorr added, “These sedans work as everyday family vehicles yet deliver performance that was, until recently, reserved for truly high-performance sports cars. And you can go anywhere and park one. It’s just a sedan. It doesn’t attract the attention a Ferrari does. They’re invisible to all but knowledgeable people.”

Analysts said that the plus factor of super sedans is the fact that they ask no compromise. They feature extra trunk space, comfy seats, and ideal handling and drive. It set of snow tires could make it a fascinating year-round cars. These and more are the reasons why the market for extreme luxury sedans is booming.

Other reasons for the super sedan fanaticism include the fact that they are arguably safer, high-performing, and tend to be bought by more responsible drivers. According to Schorr, people who already own one or more sports cars or those who truly appreciate high performance and feel they can’t be without it in their daily driver, are the usual purchasers of super sedans. “The people who own these cars don’t go nuts with them,” Schorr said. “It doesn’t matter that they have 500 hp. They’re responsible individuals, they paid a lot of money for them, they transport families and business associates, they’re more likely to stay out of trouble than are people who get behind the wheel of something red with two seats and very high horsepower.”

“More and more people have the money,” Schorr added. “The difference in price between it and the conventional model doesn’t mean much to them. These people also tend to be fickle. Before the car is one or at most two years old, it’s sold and they buy another one, so there’s a constant, evolving market for them.”

Edmunds.com Names Most Wanted Sedans for 2007

The auto market is increasingly growing with more and more improvements on existing models introduced year after year. New vehicles are also added with the coming and going of a model year. This influx of vehicles on the market gives consumers a wide choice but at the same time can cause confusion on which car to buy.

In order to help car buyers in choosing the car that best suits their needs and their budgets, various online sources of auto information offer a helping hand. Recently, Edmunds.com, one of the leading online sources of auto information, named the most wanted sedans for the 2007 model year and such was done so as to give consumers an idea of which cars are popular among fellow car buyers.

The online firm named the Toyota Tundra as the “Most Significant Vehicle of the Year”. Aside from the Tundra, Edmunds.com also named the Most Wanted Sedans for this model year.

To provide consumers with an idea of which cars are the most popular in each segment, Edmunds divided the vehicles into price categories. This will make it easier for consumers to compare their budget to the selection of the most wanted cars by the market. For sedans under ,000, Edmunds named the twins 2007 Hyundai Accent and the Kia Rio. Both of these vehicles share the same platform and interior styling. Edmunds.com stated that with these two sedans, “economical doesn’t mean low-quality”. The popularity of the Accent is justified by the fact that it is the longest-running subcompact car marketed in North America since the year 2002. Since the prices of gasoline has been skyrocketing in recent memory, it is no surprise that these fuel efficient and relatively lower-priced cars are one of the most wanted sedans in the U.S. market.

Proof of Honda’s popularity among American car buyers is the fact that the 2007 Honda Civic is voted as the most wanted sedan under ,000. The achievement of the Civic is a good boost for Honda after it suffered lowered sales last month. The Civic not only bagged the distinction in the sedan category but also in the coupe segment. This proves how American car buyers appreciate the Civic’s reliability, fuel efficiency and overall performance. This feat also gives Honda the reputation of being a manufacturer of all-around solid cars.

The third Asian brand to bag the most wanted sedan distinction is the 2007 Mazda 6. The sedan was named as the most wanted sedan under ,000. Auto critics have been singing the praises of the Mazda 6 and the Mazdaspeed 6 since its inception in the market. Car buyers and owners of the Mazda 6 are also pleased with the uncompromising performance of this car. With the American motorists turning to smaller cars for their next car purchases, the Mazda 6 is set to increase Mazda’s popularity in the United States.

For the sedan under ,000 price category, another Hyundai car bagged the distinction for being the most wanted sedan in the class. The Hyundai Azera, Hyundai’s four-door sedan first introduced in 1986 is still making heads turn. According to Edmunds.com, “Hyundai comes to play with a reasonably priced and unexpectedly refined Azera.” Aside from being the second Hyundai sedan to be named as most wanted sedan for its price category, the Azera is also the fourth sedan with an Asian lineage that has been named by Edmunds for the most wanted sedan distinction.

One of the two BMWs to be given the distinction for the sedan segment is the 2007 BMW 3 Series. This sedan bagged the distinction for the sedan under ,000 price category and is also one of the three European car models to be named most wanted sedan. For the past year, the BMW 3 Series already tops the price category and with BMW refining the 3 Series, it has even latched itself harder to the top spot this year. BMW’s trademark high performance and luxurious interior which can be complemented with husky liners makes the BMW 3 Series an undisputed leader in its price category.

For the sedan under ,000 price category, Edmunds gave the distinction of being the most wanted sedan to the 2007 Infiniti M35 and the Infiniti M45. While this car from Nissan’s luxury division is battling it out with heavy hitters in this class, it managed to take the top spot. The reason for this is cited by Edmunds.com. “Infiniti’s unique mix of aggressive styling, firm suspension tuning and torque-rich engines gives it the edge in this crowded category.”

The second BMW to bag a most wanted sedan distinction is the 2007 BMW 5 Series. The European car model managed to take the top spot in the sedan under ,000 price category. The 5 Series is also last year’s winner in this category. Just like its sibling, the 3 Series, the 5 Series came back this year model with a better performance and gained more popularity among American car buyers. With its perfect blend of luxury and performance, the 5 Series looks to dominate the category for a long time to come.

The most expensive among all most wanted sedans according to Edmunds.com is the 2007 Audi A8. The European sedan won the distinction in the sedan over ,000 price category. The German car brand’s flagship took the distinction from its foremost competitors – the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
