Long a symbol of style as well as grace and having “made it” in life Ferrari cars are still made with racing and success in mind. When founder Enzo Ferrari first began making cars in 1929 in Maranello Italy he had Formula One racing in mind instead of the more common street legal machines we can see on the highways and roadways around the world today. Not that there is anything “common” about a Ferrari! But in order to boost sales and attract more buyers the road car began to appear in 1947, opening up a whole new market for classy automobiles that many could afford. That road car, the 125 S had a powerful 1.5 litre V-12 engine and it could hold its own against anything else that was “street legal” at the time.

At .8 Million only the wealthiest could afford an Enzo

From 2002 until 2004 the fastest model of Ferrari available was the Enzo. Named after the founder of Ferrari, the Enzo was definitely aimed toward the wealthiest of auto enthusiasts because of its high cost (nearly two million dollars). Availability was somewhat limited as well because they were special ordered only and difficult to get. Always a pace setting automobile, the Ferrari continues to dominate on the Le Mans and Formula One race courses as well as impressing many on the streets around cities around the globe.

Concept cars and hybrids bring Ferrari into the future

As the world must decide between fast cars and gas consumption versus practicality and gasoline economy Ferrari has been working on producing more practical vehicles including those which operate efficiently on some form of bio-fuel or ethanol. The 599 Fiorano model, which normally has 612 horsepower gets a boost of more than 100 more horsed thanks to the Ferrari hybrid system. They even gave it a new name, HY-KERS Concept car. And concept cars are nothing new for Ferrari as they have had many over the years including the Ferrari Modulo (a radical model never meant to see production lines). Some concept based cars like the Ferrari P4/5 were made to order for wealthy owners who could afford to pay for specially built “toys”. Most recently the Ferrari Millechili came about in 2010, made by Ferrari itself and boasting an aluminium frame resulting in a much lighter vehicle with racing in mind.

Popular as ever Ferrari sales are on the rise

Modern models of the Ferrari sports car include:575M Maranello575M Superamerica599 GTB FioranoF430F430 SpiderF430 ScuderiaScuderia Spider 16M458 Italia512 ScagliettiF50 GTFerrari CaliforniaFerrari FFEnzo (F60)F70

Modern concept automobiles and concept models or those specially ordered by owners include:

Ferrari SP1Ferrari P540 Superfast ApertaFerrari MillechiliFerrari F151Ferrari Superamerica 45

The ideas that come with concept cars are often integrated into the line, improving style and performance over the years. The concept car known as the Millechili (translates from Italian as one thousand for mille and chilli means kilograms) is the most recent version that is believed to be based on the F430 models aluminium frame with a 104.3 inch wheelbase and a 600 HP V10 engine and may be called the F7. Ferrari continues to think and play well ahead into the future.

When one wants to qualify for leasing a car, here are some guidelines.The first thing one has to consider when leasing a car is to check one’s credit standing. As with any other transactions, credit score plays a major part. As leasing involves trust, car dealers will look up on your past borrowing transaction to give them a glimpse how you fared well when it comes to paying your monthly obligations. Consumers must check first the minimum credit score imposed by car dealers before they can proceed to the next step.Once your credit score is okay, car dealers also check your residence qualification. This involves proving that you have lived in a certain place for a particular period of time. The period of your local residency or rental ownership is required.The next step is your employment qualification. Obviously, car dealers check your source of income for you to be able to play your monthly dues. You have to present documents that you are working for a particular company for a period of 1 to 5 years. This is to make sure that you are able to cope up with the length of your car lease.And to be more specific, aside from the employment qualification, the income qualification is called for. Being employed doesn’t mean that you can automatically lease a car. For some car dealers, consumers must have at least ,500 monthly income for example to be able to qualify.Depending on what type of car-dealing companies one inquires to, there may be lesser or more qualifications needed to avail the service, but the qualifications listed on top are generally applied.The qualifications needed when buying a car compared to leasing a car are usually more strict, and the process is longer. This makes consumers resort to leasing a vehicle instead of acquiring a new one, not to mention the cost involved when buying a new vehicle.As some reports show, 20% percent of the total car transactions in the country involves car leasing, and is still growing. This shows that the typical consumers are becoming aware of the economical benefits of car leasing and thus resort to it.Aside from the budget friendly benefit that consumers get, they also have the privilege of changing into a new car or model when the current lease has expired. They simply can return the leased car and apply for another, giving them the satisfaction of driving the latest vehicles and staying up to date.Car shopping can be very stressful. A wrong decision can have far reaching negative consequences that affect people’s lives. Therefore, car shoppers should consider all options before signing a contract. The following provides an explanation of some of the most important steps that a car shopper should consider.Step 1 – Make A Decision on Car TypeA decision on car type is an obvious starting point which should be directed by your ‘needs’ as a car shopper as opposed to your ‘wants’. If you let ‘wants’ direct the needs, this can lead to an expensive mistake. If you are a car shopper and you want to understand your needs, these mostly evolve around:1. Engine – the most dominant factors in this is are the fuel type (diesel engines are more efficient than petrol) and the size of the engine (which determines the power for speed and acceleration);

The popularity of the Ferrari is known the world over. The Italian carmaker is known not only for building good looking cars with high performance but also for the price that these vehicles fetch. In fact the company’s cheapest model has a base price of 0,000. When it comes to expensive cars, Ferrari just set a record for the most expensive Ferrari ever sold.

The sale came at an auction held in the marque’s Italian assembly facility. Hosting the auction are the Canada-based RM Auctions Inc. and the trusted Sotheby’s. The auction saw 33 classic Ferraris being auctioned off. The most expensive of the lot is the 1962 TRI/LM Testa Rossa Spyder. The said classic race car fetched a price of 6,875,000 euros or about .275 million. While the car became the most expensive Ferrari ever sold, it is not the most expensive car sold in an auction. That distinction belongs to a 1931 Bugatti Type 41 Royal Sports Coupe which was sold for million.

The Testa Rossa Spyder is said to be the world’s most famous race car since it was used by Ferrari in the 24-hour Le Mans. The dominance of the car of the said prestigious racing event spanned from the late 1950s to the early 60s. The car sold at the auction for the record price is the last of its kind which is one reason why the price reached more than million. The particular model is the last Ferrari race car to have its engine in the front and it was driven by Phil Hil and Oliver Glendebien at the Le Mans in 1962. Aside from that particular car, the auction also sold classic Ferrari cars which earned the Italian car manufacturer more than million.

Other Ferrari cars sold during the auction, which would put to shame any production vehicle even if equipped with Kleen Wheels accessories, includes a 1953 Ferrari 340/375 MM Berlinetta Competizione which fetched a price of 4,235,000 euros. The said classic Ferrari is the second most expensive Ferrari sold during the auction. Another classic car sold at the public sale is a 1970 Ferrari 512 S which was sold for 2,640,000 euros. A 1953 Ferrari 340 MM Competition Spyder was sold at the auction for the price of 2,310,000 euros. Another Ferrari classic which was sold at the auction is a 1966 Ferrari Dino 206 SP which was sold for a whopping 2,420,000 euros. Another expensive Ferrari car sold is the 2003 Ferrari F2003-GA Formula 1 Grand Prix Car which was driven by Michael Schumacher during his stint with Scuderia Ferrari. The car was sold for 1,540,000 euros or almost million.

Of the 33 cars that were auctioned, only one car was not sold and it was a 1987 Ferrari F40 Prototipo.

Aside from the mentioned cars, Ferrari also auctioned off different car-related merchandise like a 2005 Ferrari steering wheel which was sold for ,000. Compare that to a brand new Chevy Aveo which has a starting price of ,455 and you will see how expensive Ferraris are. The Italian car manufacturer also auctioned off a 2004 V10 engine which was sold at ,000. A matching 2004 engine cover was also sold at the auction which fetched a price of ,500. An autographed Schumacher helmet was sold for ,000 while a racing suit worn by the German Formula One driver fetched a price of ,000. Current Ferrari Formula One driver Kimi Raikkonen’s racing suit was also auctioned off and was sold for ,500. And perhaps the oddest things auctioned off were a set of Felipe Massa’s under-clothes which was sold for 5.

Article by Sam Lowe

Car modification is more popular now than it has ever been before. When people buy a car these days the factory issue lights, factory paintwork and factory stereo are sometimes not enough and thanks to the availability of many sources of custom car parts the possibilities are practically endless for making your car stand out from the crowd. The problem is though that while enthusiasts may want their car sound like it has a V8 engine or sit low on its suspension so it looks like a touring car, they may not have the technical or aesthetical skills to ensure their car still looks good and runs well. Here are the 3 of the main mistakes people make when modifying their car. Bad TasteThere is no accounting for taste, especially when choosing a spoiler or a whole body kit. How often have you seen a car trundling down the high street looking like an alien child toy. Choosing the wrong body kit for your car can be done easily as they are often bought from magazines or from websites that don’t tell you much more than that they will fit on your model of car. Body kits need to be subtle in order to avoid looking stupid. The same goes for other custom body parts like spoilers and bonnet scoops which when out of proportion with the rest of the car can look really bad. Make sure you find out exactly what your car will look like with the body kit or other custom part on before you hand over your cash, and make sure you get a second opinion.Wrong PartsThere are engine modification parts that have been made popular by certain films about street racing that every car modification fan would like to have. For example, big fat exhaust, turbos, super chargers and nitrous oxide systems. If you are not 100% certain that the parts you are fitting to your car will work and be safe then you should avoid getting them altogether. Plus putting nitrous in your old modified car, it may not stand up to the punishment dealt out by the extra power. Start off safe by getting performance brakes or other simpler performance car parts to make sure your car is at least safe. You won’t look good, wrapped around a lamp post. My favourite destination for Performance Car Parts must be here I also seen to find the best part.Bad DrivingIf you can’t drive well then there is no point trying to attract attention to yourself. Get good at driving with some advanced driving courses before you start adding under lighting or a massive stereo.

Five years ago, the trend includes luxury sedans that produce 400 horsepower. Now, automakers like Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are introducing luxury sedans that have engine units which can produce as much as 600 units of horsepower.

“These are Ferraris with four doors and a trunk,” said a former automotive financial analyst, Joseph Phillippi. “The appeal is the exclusivity they offer, the ‘I’m rich enough to afford one’ statement the car makes, albeit quietly. Clearly these cars are putting more horsepower to the ground than one would ever think was normal for a luxury sedan.” These state-of-the-art and costly super sedans are inspired by popular models that bear sophisticated engine, suspension and transmission technology.

Gone are the days when so-so amenities, typical accessories, Geo cold air intake, rotors, brakes and other auto parts and car systems could storm around the industry. The trend now is probing the needs and demands of consumers and then applying expertise to pave way for a desirable car. Style, performance and price are now delivered with the customers first in mind. “I’m sure there are buyers who are clueless, simply spending money because they have a lot of it,” Phillippi said. “But most of the people who buy these know all about the car — maybe even know how to drive it well.”

Most luxurious luxury sedans keep away from the looks of some gaudy sports cars with large wings, distasteful scoops and noisy exhaust systems. The supercharged V12 badge, lowered stance, flashier wheels and discreet tires make a well accented difference.

“You’re not looking to impress Joe Six-Pack,” said automotive publicist and consultant Martyn Schorr. “It’s the aficionados who are impressed — and valets. Valets are used to seeing luxury cars, but they’re impressed when they see a Mercedes AMG or BMW M logo.” The difference between ordinary and superlative sedans is often subtle that an average driver could not easily distinguish. A typical A4 is almost similar to the hot-rod RS 4; the equally-captivating Jaguar XJ8 could not be easily distinguished from the ferocious XJR. “The sedans are stealthy, so you can be a performance loony and not look bad in your neighborhood,” Phillippi said.

Schorr added, “These sedans work as everyday family vehicles yet deliver performance that was, until recently, reserved for truly high-performance sports cars. And you can go anywhere and park one. It’s just a sedan. It doesn’t attract the attention a Ferrari does. They’re invisible to all but knowledgeable people.”

Analysts said that the plus factor of super sedans is the fact that they ask no compromise. They feature extra trunk space, comfy seats, and ideal handling and drive. It set of snow tires could make it a fascinating year-round cars. These and more are the reasons why the market for extreme luxury sedans is booming.

Other reasons for the super sedan fanaticism include the fact that they are arguably safer, high-performing, and tend to be bought by more responsible drivers. According to Schorr, people who already own one or more sports cars or those who truly appreciate high performance and feel they can’t be without it in their daily driver, are the usual purchasers of super sedans. “The people who own these cars don’t go nuts with them,” Schorr said. “It doesn’t matter that they have 500 hp. They’re responsible individuals, they paid a lot of money for them, they transport families and business associates, they’re more likely to stay out of trouble than are people who get behind the wheel of something red with two seats and very high horsepower.”

“More and more people have the money,” Schorr added. “The difference in price between it and the conventional model doesn’t mean much to them. These people also tend to be fickle. Before the car is one or at most two years old, it’s sold and they buy another one, so there’s a constant, evolving market for them.”

Honda city is a relatively old car. People had started using this car long ways back, but over the years, its productivity and style has changed a lot to maintain its importance and demand.

Initially, this car was the only car in the mid-segment sedan. People purchased it due to its technology, style and features. All three were optimally placed to make it the best sedan. Later on, many different competitors evolved including Maruti SX4, Mahindra Renault Logan, and Ford Fiesta and so on. However, the legacy of Honda City continued.

When other cars started gathering equal or more response; then the Company went on for a complete make-over of the car. The new model was with fresh design and better looks. Company also priced it a little lower. This was done to make it equally competitive with other sedans.

Those who can’t afford a brand new Honda city can look for a good condition second hand car. There are many people who want to sell their old car. In fact many Honda city users want to sell their used honda city car to buy a new one for them. Then the buyer can contact them and look for a used Honda city car in his budget. However, there are some essential points to be considered:

Meter reading: Buyer should prefer a used Honda city with lesser meter reading. If the meter reading is too high then the tyres must have deteriorated and the engine also needs money for better performances. So even if you save upon the cost then you will end-up paying more money while using the car.

Insurance: Insurance of car is must these days. People should insure their car to enable them to use it in case the car is damaged severely. Moreover, the insurance laws are quite strict and the user may end-up paying hefty amounts to the other person, in case the fault is his.

Car Papers: The papers should be in the name of the person selling the car. Or else he may sell a stolen Honda City to you.

All these points are should be considered seriously while purchasing a used Honda City from the market.

Porsche Boxter: Most Satisfying Sports Car in America

AutoPacific, a California-based automotive marketing and product-consulting firm has just released the result of their Vehicle Satisfaction survey and after asking thousands of new car owners of their choice for the most satisfying sports car in the United States, the 2007 Porsche Boxster came out on the top spot.

The Porsche Boxster and Boxster S received the Vehicle Satisfaction Award (VSA), considered the industry benchmark for clearly measuring how satisfied new-car owners are with their vehicles. Boxster owners rated their cars highly within the Power/Acceleration and Braking categories, as well as the Cargo/Space/Capacity, Cupholders and Interior Storage areas of the survey.

“Sports cars are supposed to be exhilarating to drive, but sometimes difficult to live with,” noted George Peterson, president of AutoPacific in the Company’s release on Tuesday. “Owners of the Porsche Boxster indicate it delivers on exhilarating, but it is not difficult to live with.”

The Boxster remains a constant winner in consumer opinion surveys, thanks to the ultimate open-air driving experience it continues to provide. Its unique mid-engine configuration, numerous handling enhancements and greater active and passive safety makes it the acknowledged leader in its segment – definitely something you’ll wish fervently for if you still own and drive one of those Yugos (with their Yugo oxygen sensor).

Redesigned for 2005, Porsche’s moderately priced sports car again comes in base and Boxster S forms. For 2007, Porsche has boosted the power of both models and modified the Tiptronic transmission to be more responsive for those who don’t want to drive a stick shift. The Boxster’s 2.7-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder gains 5 horsepower (to 245), and its torque grows by 2 pounds-feet (to 201). Torque for that engine peaks 100 rpm earlier than the previous engine. It also gains VarioCam Plus for variable valve timing and lift control.

Both versions have dedicated head-protection airbags and the Porsche Stability Management system.

For 2007, the Boxster S comes with a new six-cylinder power unit enlarged in size by 0.2 litres. Output of this 3.4-litre with VarioCam Plus valve control is 217 kW (295 bhp), 15 bhp more than on the former 3.2-litre.Benefiting from this extra power, the new Boxster S accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, one-tenth of a second faster than its predecessor. Top speed, in turn, is up by 4 km/h to 272 km/h or 169 mph. And average fuel consumption of the S-model is 10.6 litres/100 kilometres, equal to 26.6 mpg Imp.

Rivals include the Audi TT, BMW Z4, Honda S2000 and Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class.

AutoPacific is a future-oriented automotive marketing and product-consulting firm. Every year it publishes a wide variety of syndicated studies on the automotive industry. The firm also conducts extensive proprietary research and consulting for auto manufacturers, distributors, marketers and suppliers worldwide. Company headquarters and its state-of-the-art automotive research facility are in Tustin, California, with an affiliate office in the Detroit area. AutoPacific releases VSA results yearly as a consumer and industry service measuring owner satisfaction across 46 specific areas related to a vehicle’s operation, comfort, safety and overall buying experience.

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), based in Atlanta, Ga., and its subsidiary, Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd., are the exclusive importers of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne® sport utility vehicles for the United States and Canada.

The Sports Car Experience: Making the Most of Sports Car Rentals

You’ve always dreamed of getting your hands on that Porsche or Ferrari to race it down the tracks or to cruise around looking good behind the wheel.

For most people, however, being able to own such a vehicle remains a dream.

But now, you can still fulfil that dream of driving those fast and sexy machines without needing to take out a second mortgage. You can now book a rental for high class sports cars at reasonable prices.

Pricing and rental schemes for sports car rentals vary. You can drive a Porsche around a circuit for an hour or take a Lamborghini out anywhere for the weekend. And anyone who has made these arrangements can tell you, the experience is well worth the money.

Below are just some tips that can help make your own sports car experience smoother and much more satisfying without needing to break the bank.

Book in advance

Believe it or not, ever since sports car rentals started being offered, demand has continued to rise, with little signs of slowing down. This is probably because of the high return rate of previous customers.

So if you want to save yourself the anxiety of waiting for an opening that will coincide with a trip or an event, plan ahead and book the date well in advance. A month’s lead time usually will get you the exact model, date and time you want.

Secure your documents

Make sure you are qualified to drive the sports car of your choice. Some rental companies set up certain restrictions on particular models,

Height is considered and you should be no less than 5 feet or no taller than 6.5 feet. You should be licensed to operate a manual transmission vehicle.

Insurance documents may also be required, especially for rentals to be taken out of the facility. Other guidelines vary for every company, so it would be wise consult with them.

Consider rental packages

You may just save some money on a rental and get a more thrilling experience than you could have ever imagined if you’re willing to consider some packages put together by the rental company,

Some offer the experience of driving not one, but up to FOUR kinds of sports cars at a price lower than booking them separately. Group bookings are also possible, so be sure to inquire with the booking agent about these.

Getting to drive and ride in the sports car of your dreams is all the more within your reach. Just remember these tips as well as the standard safety rules and you’ll be well on your way to an experience you’ll never forget.
