Radio controlled car or RC car is one of the most played toy car by kids and even teens. RC car lovers spend much of their time playing car racing with this radio controlled cars. It offers an endless amount of thrill and excitement of race and the speed of each type of car.

RC car consists of two units – the car and the remote control or radio. Radio control consists of two sets of joysticks. One is to control the backward and forward movement and the other is for side-to-side movements. Less expensive radio controllers are powered by a number of rechargeable batteries. The other type of radio controller is also powered by batteries but with actual gas-powered engines.

With the growing popularity of RC cars, manufacturers offer different kinds of models and types to fit with every buyer or user. Some makers offer RC cars for kids in low cost and some were modeled after the real-life counterpart such as Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghinis.

There are different kinds of RC cars that you can select, from its body type, model, style, color or in any size. On the other hand, there are some distinctions you need to consider in choosing RC car.

First, you will choose between electric RC and gas powered cars. Then you’ll choose for road racing or off-road racing models. Also if it is assembled or non-assembled as you purchase it and lastly, if you want to have it a car type or a truck type.

Car racers usually choose the RC cars that run on nitro gasoline or the so-called Petrol RC cars. It is the most popular and the fastest growing piece of the RC cars. Using petrol vehicles, you now can purchase the popular RC trucks that can jump at high speed and go off the road driving. And if speed or velocity is more of your concern, acquire the race cars that are inevitable in prepared tracks or along pavements.

Typically, petrol RC cars operate fast unlike the electric cars. Some of the nitro cars run in 70 to 90 mph. This electric or gas powered RC cars run on a special fuel made just for radio controlled cars.

The most popular sizes of nitro RC cars are 1/8 and 1/10 scale. 1/8th scale is popular for off-road trucks and buggies while the 1/10th scale is the industry standard for on-road racers. The 1/8th scale come with a 2 or 3 speed transmission.

Buying a New Car and Getting the Best Price

Before you finally decide on what car to buy, or if you have already picked that car that best suits your needs and your lifestyle, here still are some of the useful tips you may want to keep in mind to help you save car money:

Do not buy large cars. Unless it is necessary, it is better still to have a smaller car that is not costly to maintain. Even if a large sports utility vehicle is your dream car, it’s probably a lot more than you really need. The size of the car you decide to purchase will have a direct effect on its operating costs. Purchasing the smallest car possible for your driving needs will save you a tremendous amount in gasoline charges. Small cars weigh about half as much as larger cars which results in about half as much fuel being used.

Do not gas up in the heat of the day. According to some chemistry, it is best to buy your gasoline in the early morning or at night when it is cold outside. Gas becomes denser in cooler temperatures. Since gas pumps only measure the volume of fuel – not the density – you’ll get better overall gas mileage for your money by purchasing fuel when it’s cool outside rather than in the heat of the day.

Do not use your car, unless necessary. By far, the best way to reduce your car expenses is to use your car only when necessary. Cars are extremely convenient and this causes people to use them much more often than they really need to. Just ask your self, “Is this trip really necessary?” If you become wise and smart enough in deciding on your trips, you will surely save a great deal of cash.

Do not take your car tires for granted. Always take some time to check your car’s tire pressure each month or every time you do long trips. Under inflated tires reduce fuel efficiency by 2% for every pound they are under inflated. Under inflation also causes premature tire wear giving your tires a shorter use life.

Do not drive fast in low gears. Driving at high speeds in the improper gear can reduce fuel efficiency by up to 40%.

Don’t open windows when traveling at high speeds. Driving on the highway with windows open can reduce fuel efficiency by 10%. It is a lot better if you just use the ventilation system of your car. Also use cruise control to maintain a steady pace on the highway to increase fuel economy.

Don’t let your car idle for long periods. The rule is, never leave your car idle for more than 30 seconds. If you think you will stay longer, better turn your engine off. Letting your car idle longer is a waste of gas. It is actually more efficient to turn off your car and turn it on again than to let it idle for more than 45 seconds while waiting.

Sports Cars: Getting Started on Your Need for Speed

If high acceleration, top speed, and appearance are what you want in a vehicle, then a sports car is probably what you’re looking for. Sports cars are a .5 billion industry with about 55,000 units sold annually.

Sports cars are built as performance vehicles – meaning they are to be pushed in ways regular cars can’t. For example, acceleration is often no more than 5 seconds to go from 0 to 100 mph. As it is more difficult to manoeuvre a speeding object, sports cars are specially designed to be handled at top speeds.

The term ‘sporty’ was coined to refer to a sleek but robust design that exudes a powerful persona for the person behind the wheel. What follows is a basic run-through of sports cars out in the marketplace – their general designs and layout, as well as a listing of the more popular models and makers.

- FF – front engine, front wheel drive.

The FF layout has a moderate capacity for high speed handling and is seen in select models such as the Fiat Coup, and the Lotus Elan M100.

- FR – front engine, rear wheel drive

Considered the ‘classic’ sports car layout, the engine drives the rear wheels but keeps the weight off the back. The FR is good at drifting corners while still maintaining control. Mercedes-Benz is recognized for using this layout for its models.

- RR – rear engine, rear wheel drive

With the engine at the back driving the rear wheels, weight placement on a RR layout provides excellent traction for a car. However, without auxiliary driving aids like stability control, handling becomes difficult. As of today, the only maker who keeps the RR layout for its cars is Porche.

AWD – all wheel drive

An AWD layout provides the easiest handling, making it ideal for those who are just starting out with sports cars. Audi started the widespread use of this technique with the Quattro. Japanese manufacturers like Mitsubishi used this layout to increase handling making it an excellent rally car.

Because of higher restrictions in the states, sports car manufacturers are more prevalent in Europe than in America. Nevertheless, American brands are in equal competition with its European and Asian counterparts. Some recognized makers and models are:

Alfa Romeo

Alpine

Aston Martin

Austin-Healey

BMW

Bugatti

Caterham

Davrian

De Lorean

Ferrari

Fisker

Jaguar

Koenigsegg

Lamborghini

Lotus

McLaren

Maserati

MG

Morgan

Panoz

Porsche

Triumph

TVR

Vector

Now that you’ve gotten started, take your next step by discovering the excitement a sports car can bring you today, just like it has for generations.

Getting Your First Motorbike

Every biker will tell you that there’s something magical about taking to the roads on a motorbike that you just can’t beat in any other way. Of course, if you’re thinking about getting your first motorbike, you probably know that and, after you’ve passed your test, there should be nothing stopping you from starting to shop for your first ever bike.

There are several things you should keep in mind about getting your first motorbike. Like getting your first car, it’s a good idea to be wary about jumping in to what looks like the first bargain you find. A classic rule of making large purchases is to shop around – and that certainly rings true for buying your first bike. Whether you’re visiting dealers or checking local listings to see who in your area has a used machine on offer, shop around. You could save yourself time, stress and money in the long run.

If you’re visiting a dealer and you don’t know too much about motorbikes, it’s a good idea to bring along a friend who is more knowledgeable about them. Your friend, or family member, will be able to advise you on what’s a good deal and help you avoid falling into the trap of any over-enthusiastic salesperson. You can also take this time to find the type of bike that fits your size, feels natural to sit on and otherwise gives you a sensation of feeling safe and not overwhelmed by its size.

Similarly, if you’re looking to buy an older, used bike, make sure that it is in good working order before committing to hand over any cash. Have the bike looked at by a professional, take it for a test ride and discuss any niggles with its current owner before you decide it’s the bike for you.

There are a great deal of new machines out there, but only one will be your first ever motorbike – and, as it’s one you’ll remember, make sure it’s the right one that will help you forge many happy memories. Then all you’ll need to get sorted out is your helmet, leathers, bike insurance and you’re set to hit the road.

Your first motorbike is an important one that will hopefully bring you many years of pleasure, so take your time, shop around and choose quality over low prices – it’s a move you’ll be glad you made years down the line.

Getting The Right Bike Insurance

Getting bike insurance can cause some people a bit of stress and confusion, especially if they have bought a motorbike for the first time. The confusion can come from all of the quotes and offers you will receive when selecting the right insurance company. Deciding on the offer is dependent upon your needs and the kind of bike you have. In addition, how much the insurance costs is affected by how long you have been riding a motorcycle for.

All bike insurance, unfortunately, will charge you more if you are an inexperienced rider. Those who have been on the road for many more years than you will be quoted something a lot cheaper. This is a normal thing for everyone looking for cheap insurance, as there are more risks of damages, incidences and accidents with an inexperienced and new rider. Statistically there are more claims from those who have only just gained their motorbike license.

There are different types of insurance policies, which make a difference to your entitlements after an incident. The first of these is a third party insurance policy, which covers the policyholder from third party damages. This does not however, cover for your own bikes damages, so even though it is much cheaper it will mean that you will need to find a way of paying for your own costs of damages and medical expenses. This also includes if your bike is caught on fire or stolen.

In the instance that your bike is set on fire or stolen, the third party theft and fire bike insurance will cover for all of the above including theft and fire to your own bike. This is a popular option for most first time bikers if they are looking for something cheap.

These days there are cheaper insurance covers, with lots of deals to be found, however, it is a question of getting to apply for it first. Always consult with an independent insurance broker; they will point you to the right direction if you are finding it difficult to make a decision.

Another more expensive type of bike insurance is the comprehensive insurance policy will cover for all of the above and damages to your bike, with the added benefit for covering for any medical expenses. This is the most expensive and yet the best insurance to opt for, as this will guarantee you that there will be no problems and all costs will be covered. Your money will be well spent as the main purpose of concern is not your finances, but your safety.

There are certain things to avoid such as sneaky cancellation fees that you may not know about. If this is not in the contract, you should enquire about it. Interest charges may be more than most bank credit cards so always check this before you start paying. Avoid paying legal expenses in advance, as this can be offered free of charge from certain companies.

If you are making modifications to your bike, this may not be covered as there have been additional changes made to it. You will need to let the insurance company know about this, no matter how small the modification may be.
